Privacy Policy

The short version: Retro Asset Studio does not phone home. There is no telemetry, no crash reporting, no auto-update, no account, and no analytics on this website. The only data that leaves your computer is what you send to the AI provider you configured yourself.

1. The desktop application

1.1 What is sent to AI providers

When you generate an image, the application sends your prompt, the parts of your project style guide that are merged into the prompt, and any reference images you selected for that generation to the AI provider configured for the current project (currently Google Gemini; Hugging Face and OpenAI are shown in the app but disabled until they ship). It sends nothing to those providers otherwise. Each provider processes that data under its own terms and privacy policy, which you accepted when you created your account with them. GameRoad Studio does not receive, proxy, or store any of it.

1.2 API keys and local data

Your API keys are stored only on your computer. They are encrypted with the Windows Data Protection API (DPAPI), which ties them to your Windows user account, and kept in %APPDATA%\Retro Asset Studio\data\app.json together with your projects, characters, poses, and asset metadata. Generated images are saved as files under the same folder. Deleting that folder removes everything the application knows about you.

1.3 No telemetry, crash reporting, or auto-update

The application contains no analytics, no usage tracking, no crash reporter, and no automatic update mechanism. It does not check for new versions. Apart from the AI provider calls described above, it makes no network requests.

1.4 Project exports

Project export files (.rasproj) are created locally and contain your project data and assets. They are only shared if you share them. Check whether an export contains API keys before sending it to anyone; see the documentation for details on what is included.

2. The website

2.1 No cookies, no analytics

retroassetstudio.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Styling libraries are loaded from a public content delivery network (jsDelivr), which receives the standard request information any web server receives when serving a file.

2.2 Server access logs

The site and the download files are served through Amazon CloudFront and Amazon S3. Standard access logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) are retained for up to 90 days for security and abuse prevention, then deleted. They are not used for marketing or profiling and are not shared with third parties except as required by law.

2.3 External services

Links to GitHub (feedback repository), Ko-fi (donations), and email lead to services with their own privacy policies. Anything you post or send there is governed by those policies.

3. Support email

If you write to support@retroassetstudio.com, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to answer you and handle follow-ups. We do not add you to any mailing list.

4. Children

Retro Asset Studio and this website are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

5. Your rights

Because the application stores everything locally and the website collects almost nothing, there is usually nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. If you have written to support, you can ask us to delete that correspondence at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local data protection law; contact us to exercise them.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the application or website changes. The effective date at the top of the page will be updated, and material changes will be noted in the changelog. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
